About

I have been writing since I was very young. When I was a teenager, essays and poetry helped me to win my first overseas trip via a newspaper competition.

For many years, I've been a technical writer by profession.  I'm based in UK, but have spent much of the past 20 years working overseas.  I've writen textbooks, articles and management reports on the global pharmaceutical industry.  I was also editor of a technical journal.

I returned to creative writing in 2006. For the past five years, I've taken a grasshopper approach to writing (as to the rest of my life).  I've writen articles for content websites and on commission. I've writen short stories and poetry for competitions - and have had a couple of wins, a place and an honorable mention.

Since 2009, I have been co-editor of the Chudleigh Phoenix Community Magazine. Together with co-editor Sharon Cook, I have launched the Chudleigh Phoenix Annual Short Story Competition, which is currently in its second year.

In July 2011, we launched a collection of short stories. Life is Not a Trifling Affair can be found here: http://www.chudleighphoenix.co.uk/trifles.html

I am currently writing a novel set in Russia, based partly on my travel experiences. I've given myself two years to finish this book - and to provide structure and discipline to the project, I am studying for an MA in Creative Writing at Exeter University.

I am a member of the Society of Women Writers and Journalists and a former session leader at Swanwick Writers' Summer School.
